Winter-
into-Spring
Semester

In session, with limited
drop-in availability

Young chefs ages 1½–16 continue making and tasting foods that changed the world in our new Winter-into-Spring Semester, running March 2–May 1.*

Chef Lila leads these hands-on classes as kids build real kitchen skills through cooking that’s engaging and fun. As part of our yearlong History of Food theme, this session explores the Renaissance, Britain’s Golden Age, the American West, and more—kids will even make what George Washington ate for breakfast! This semester brings history to the table in ways that feel accessible, memorable, and delicious.

*Please note: We will be closed March 30–April 10 for Spring Break week (aligning with the SOMA school district calendar) and a week of required building maintenance. Also please remember that no makeups or refunds can be made for classes your child is unable to attend.

Upcoming: Spring Semester will run May 4-June 19. Join our mailing list at the bottom of this page for updates and early access registration.

From Tiny Chefs to Teens

Choose your child’s age range from the menu to learn more about our semester classes for kids.

Please note: We do not offer trial classes; registration is for the full semester. We are unable to provide refunds, transfers, or make-up sessions for missed classes due to illness, personal emergencies, or events beyond our control. Prices may have increased slightly to reflect rising food and supply costs, and a payment plan is available.

To ensure a safe learning environment, Kitchen Table reserves the right to remove any student whose behavior compromises the safety of themselves, others, or our team. No refunds or make-up classes will be issued in such cases, though students are welcome to return once the behavior is resolved.

  • This class is specially designed to encourage toddlers to explore the creative side of cooking with the help from their adult caregiver. Their senses are used to identify foods through tasting, touching, and smelling. In addition, we introduce proper kitchen hygiene and advance children’s fine and gross motor skills through measuring, stirring, and kneading. They will be amazed to watch ingredients come together and become something wonderful to eat. The class is perfect for ages 2-3 years old. We do allow 3s who are not yet ready for a separation class and prefer to be with their adult. Adult chaperone participation is required.

  • Children will experience a fun, hands-on approach to cooking in this 1-hour drop-off class taught by a trained chef. We encourage children to try new foods while they create a recipe from scratch to take home and share with the family. By the end of the six weeks, your child will take home a cookbook so you can whip up the recipes at home!

  • Children will explore recipes with a variety of fresh ingredients and learn how to make healthy, balanced choices. We introduce basic cooking and baking techniques.

  • This class is especially designed for elementary-aged students who are ready to handle more mature responsibilities in the kitchen such as working with sharp knifes and kitchen equipment. They will learn to work independently and in groups to create a recipe to take home and share with family.

For children age 8, this class is recommended for students who have been in a Kitchen Table Summer Camp. Otherwise enrollment for 8-year-olds is up to Chef's discretion and may be recommended to enroll in Kitchen Brigade as an introduction.

  • This is a one and a half-hour advanced class for serious students in middle and high school looking to learn culinary techniques and knife skills. Each week will focus on recipes that highlight a specific technique.

Note: A waiver must be signed by a legal guardian.

This class is for students in middle school. Younger students must have prior cooking experience in one of the following: Gourmet Club, or our summer cooking camp at Chef's discretion.

Drop-in Trial Classes

Parties

Parties
for Kids Birthdays, Teens & Scout Troops

Our Saturday afternoon parties are designed to be all-inclusive, hands-on cooking experiences for budding chefs ages 5–16. Parties are an hour and a half long and held on Saturdays from 12:30 to 2pm. Simply choose a theme and let us take it from there. We provide the ingredients, beverages, and fun activities—and clean up the mess!

Plan a Party

First, expand on the themes menu to decide which is right for your child. (Scout parties can also click here.)

Next, inquire to request a date at the button below. Our coordinator for kids events, Tina, will answer any questions and confirm the details, after which our booking platform, HiSawyer, will send a deposit request; payment secures booking. A week before the party, we will confirm final head count and guest names.

Please note: Any separate vendors, unlisted items, or custom themes must be approved by Kitchen Table in advance.

  • Kids will become pizza chefs, crafting their own mini-pizzas from scratch! They will observe the magic of yeast in dough-making, bake their creations, and enjoy their pizzas at the party. Cupcake decorating is also part of the fun.

  • This enchanting party is for children who love all things magical! Kids will make Fairy Bread and decorate Butterfly Cookies or cupcakes.

  • Inspired by the hit Netflix series! Kids will shape dough into professional-looking cookies and try their hand at cupcake decoration based on a theme chosen in advance collaboration with our pastry chef. Prizes are awarded for the "best" design and the most edible creation. It’s a hilariously good time!

  • Roll, stuff, and bake your own cheesy vegetarian calzones, then chill out with frosty, caffeine-free frappes—and cupcakes, too! Perfect for birthdays, hangouts, or just a fun afternoon, this party serves up hands-on cooking with serious flavor and plenty of style.

  • Teens will learn how to make pappardelle from scratch with a pasta maker along with a classic red sauce, then enjoy their delicious work together at the party. Cupcake decorating rounds out the celebration with a sweet finish.

  • Mix, fold, and bake scratch-made empanadas with savory fillings, then dig in while they’re hot. (And cupcake decorating balances things out with something sweet.) Perfect for birthdays, hangouts, or just a fun afternoon with friends.

  • Ready to earn that Cooking Merit Badge? Gather your troop for a hands-on cooking adventure! Scouts will choose from our list of recipes and learn to read, measure, mix, and work together as a kitchen team. Best of all, everyone gets to enjoy the delicious results of their hard work at the end of class.
